This session is a case study of our department's four-year growth journey. We start with an overview of the archaic system used by our company for years, through the change in the mechanics and the philosophy we adopted, to the success we accomplished in four short years. We adopted this quote by Benjamin Franklin (the father of the American fire service), “When you are finished changing you are finished,” because we knew we would have to continually monitor and upgrade our system to keep it fresh and on track. Participants will be taken from the beginning of our outreach to the company for their buy-in, though the four action parts of our plan: Marketing, Onboarding, Mentoring, and Morale. Through pictures and statistics, you will learn how our program works and turnkey ideas for how to apply these strategies in your own department. You will walk away ready for the never-ending process of recruitment and retention.
