Vehicle crashes are a leading cause of injury and death to responders and community members alike. They are also a leading cause of legal liability claims, can be very costly and time consuming to repair, and can adversely affect your organization's reputation in your community. Evidence is mounting that "red lights and sirens" response is unnecessary in a large number of the calls for help we go on. During this presentation we will discuss that we should be showing our operators the common ways our crashes occur, offer strategies to avoid them, and we will discuss the need to change our culture to stop using the "What if?" standard and apply more common sense in how we respond when we have reliable information.
