Al Yancey began his fire service career in 1988 and has served as Fire Chief of the Minooka Fire Protection District in Illinois since 2003. Under his leadership, the district transitioned to a combination department serving nearly 3,000 annual calls and holds an ISO Class 1 rating. Chief Yancey is a founding member and past chair of the Illinois Volunteer and Combination Officer Committee and has served as the IFCA Director for Volunteer and Combination Departments. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the IAFC's Volunteer and Combination Officer Section (VCOS), including as vice-chair, and has co-authored IAFC guidance documents on leadership and chaplain services. A frequent presenter at state and national conferences, Chief Yancey focuses on leadership, wellness, and organizational development. He is an Executive Fire Officer Program graduate, holds a bachelor's degree in Fire Service Management, and provides consulting services to fire departments nationwide.
