Joe Maruca served in the volunteer fire and EMS service from 1977 to 2024. He recently retired as the career chief of the West Barnstable (Massachusetts) Fire Department, a combination department with six full-time firefighter/paramedics, six part-time firefighter/EMTs and forty volunteer firefighters. Joe led the department's transition to 24/7 firefighter/paramedic coverage. Under his leadership, the WBFD's volunteer force grew from 24 members to 40 members. Joe Maruca is a Director of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). He is a graduate of Boston University Questrom School of Business, New England Law School, and SUNY Empire State College.
