This presentation will dive into the cognitive areas around the environment we work in (a.k.a., the firehouse). Throughout the presentation the class will participate in discussions and share best practices and outside the box ideas on how to improve the culture within our own fire departments. The following topics will be covered: fostering a welcoming environment for recruitment, ways to improve retention, embracing a brother/sisterhood in the fire service, and how we can show appreciation. The session will facilitate class discussion, so participants can share and learn from each other. Time will be saved for attendee questions and discussion at the end of the presentation.
