While a clear picture has been painted regarding the risk of cancer among career firefighters, the risk among volunteer firefighters is unknown – but may be similar or even higher than their career counterparts. As a result, CAPS, in partnership with the Fire Fighter Cancer Cohort Study, has collected individual and department-level survey data to provide a better understanding of cancer prevention knowledge and practices in the volunteer fire service. This workshop will provide a snapshot of current cancer prevention efforts as well as highlight resource-friendly suggestions for improved prevention efforts.
