Fire departments across the country are experiencing staffing shortages. The problem is that fire will continue to grow, people will continue to be trapped, and the overall incident will not stand still, regardless of how understaffed you are. So, what can we do about it? Does this mean the only thing we can do is fight fire from the outside? Have you ever heard the term, "do more with less?" This does not mean that we are accepting of lower standards. Quite the contrary, we need to become more efficient at every level within the fire department. This program will highlight training, crew efficiency, collaborative mutual aid, and realities faced when looking at fire department challenges. This interactive presentation will review incident priorities and how a lack of staffing can make all the difference in winning and losing on the fireground. We will also discuss staffing studies that have been completed and how to utilize them to your best advantage as well as review NFPA 1710 and 1720 and the OSHA standard for 2 in and 2 out.
